Properly distributed over two academic courses, they will study a whole set of subjects, where you will learn everuthing necessary to become a good nurse professional; all this accompanied, with a practice period of 410 hours, where they will complete acquiring the necessary skills as a future Assistant Nursing Care Technician. 

The current Assistant Nursing Care Technician (formerly named Clinic Assistant or Nursing Assistant) is a kind of professional who increasingly has a great responsibility both within a health team (collaborating with doctors, odontologists, psychologists, etc.) and as a part of a nursing team (collaborating with Graduates in Nursing in hospitals and clinics). For this reason, it is essential for them to have training, as complete as possible, in all the fields in which it can provide its services.

As you will see below, the curriculum of this middle-level cycle includes all the necessary subjects so that you can give quality nursing care to anyone regardless of their status or age.

C1. Administrative operations and health documentation

In this 60-hour credit, you will learn all the things you need to be able to move within our healthcare system. Among many other things you will learn how our healthcare works, how we use clinical documentation in hospitals, or how we team up with the nursing staff.

C2. Human being in the face of disease

During the 60 hours of credit we will explain to you things as diverse as the human cell, the tissues that make up the human body, the main diagnostic tests that are used in the hospital or the drugs that will be most frequently administered as Assistant Nursing Care Technician. In addition, as you can also work within the expanding balneotherapy field (as a spa auxiliary), this credit also includes training in this specialty.

C3. Patient welfare: in need of hygiene, movement and rest

Within this credit, which is also 60 hours long, you will learn everything you need to meet the need for hygiene and movement in people of all age groups. We will explain to you how is the skin, what are the main diseases that affect them, how the hygiene of an independent person has to be, how the hygiene of a person who can not move is performed, how to do the hygiene of a newborn, how to move people who can not do it alone, how to do massages, etc. In addition, we will also teach you everything you need to improve the rest of the people who will be under your responsibility when you are working.

C4. Basic nursing techniques

This 240-hour credit is the most specific of the entire course. In it you will learn everything you need to become a good nurse professional (Nursing Assistant). Learn how the human body is, what are the main diseases that can affect it and what are the nursing techniques that are applied to the treatment of the different pathologies that affect people of all age groups. You will be taught things as diverse as newborn care in the delivery room (Pediatric Assistant), such as your work in an operating room could be (Operating Room Assistant), or how you put a bladder tube to a 90-year-old grandparent (Assistant to the Geriatrics).

C5. First aid

As you will see throughout this 60-hour long credit, anyone, regardless of their profession or training, is obliged to provide first aid at any given time. Within this credit precisely we will teach you everything necessary to be able to provide first aid in any situation (Emergency Assistant). He will learn to make bandages, to revive an unconscious person, to heal all kinds of wounds, to attend to hemorrhages, to act before the bite of a poisonous snake, etc...

C6. Hygiene of the hospital environment and cleanliness of the material

We live surrounded by all kinds of microorganisms, some beneficial and others harmful to man. As a future Assistant Nursing Care Technician, during the 90-hour duration of this credit, learn everything necessary about the main infectious agents that can affect the individual and the measures that serve to prevent the infections that frequently affect the people who remain hospitalized. You will learn things as diverse as AIDS or hepatitis, how we isolate people who have contagious diseases or how to prepare medical-clinical material for surgery.

C7. Psicological support to the patient/client

With this qualification you will also be able to work as a Psychiatric Assistant within a psychiatric hospital, and therefore it is essential that you receive training in the psychology of the human being. Within this 60-hour credit, you will learn things as diverse as the workings of the mind, how the human personality develops throughout life and which are the main mental disorders that can affect both children and adults.

C8. Health education

As a future nursing professional you will have the responsibility, both within and outside your work environment, to be a health educator: friends, family, neighbors, spontaneously, seek their advice on all matters relating to their health. This 30-hour credit will give you the necessary training to know how to resolve the doubts of the people around you: taking into account such important factors as your age or level of studies.

C9. Dental-Stomatological Support Technician

With this Middle Degree degree, you can also work as a Dental Clinic Assistant and therefore you need to have specific knowledge in the field of dentistry. During the 90 hours of this credit, dentistry professionals will teach you everything you need to become a good Dental Clinic Assistant. You will learn things as diverse as exploring the mouth, preventing the main diseases that affect the teeth or collaborating with the dentist in the accomplishment of dental fillings or extractions.

C10. Relationships in the workplace and C11. Training and career guidance

These two credits (each lasting 60 hours) will teach you everything you need to be able to insert you, once the cycle is over, into the labour market. We will explain things as diverse as how to resolve a conflict within your work, such as preparing a curriculum vitae, knowing your rights and duties as a worker or facing a job interview.

C12. Workplace training

It is essential that when you finish your Assistant Nursing Care Technician training, you are able to apply everything you have learned during the course to your daily work. For this reason you will need to develop 410 hours of internship in different types of fields where you can collaborate as a future nurse professional. We will offer you the possibility to do these hours of practice in places as diverse as a neonatal unit of a hospital, an emergency service, a dental practice, a psychiatry service...or any other service where you can begin to develop your vocation as a future nursing professional.

C13. Synthesis credit

Through the conducting of the synthesis credit, at the end of your training as Assistant Nursing care Technician, you will have to prove you have obtained the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to become a good nursing professional. This is a 60-hour credit.

C14. Auxiliary nursing cares to the hospitalized child

The Teaching Centre Sant Joan de Déu is located next to one of the most important maternal and child hospitals in Catalonia. For this reason we also wanted to to take the opportunity to give our students, future Auxiliary Nursing Care Technicians, a specific training in the field of paediatrics. By making this 60-hour credit, you will learn everything you need to be able to provide quality nursing care to the hospitalized child in the main child hospitalization services (nest, neonatology, PIU, paediatrics, short-stay surgery, emergencies, etc.).
